SOCIAL CLUB 19 REVIEWS BANGSTYLE HAIR PRODUCT

Bangstyle sent our Executive Editor some hair product to review. There are 3 types of guys when it comes to hair care products:

  1. The guy who still insists on LA Looks hair gel
  2. The guy who uses whatever his hairstylist or barber sells him on, probably American Crew
  3. The guy who has a serious hair regime that's on the level of Uncle Jesse (You know from Full House)
The ideal guy would be a mix of all three. Hair product is not complicated and should be simple but right for your hair. It doesn't do any good to have a well styled outfit, but have a bad maintained hair situation.

Bangstyle is a new product that recently launched in April. I have been using it for a little while to compare it to my regular hair care products. The owner of Kevin Murphy, Cutter & Stiles, created the stylist inspired hair care line. Bangstyle's 14 haircare products, including cleansing formulas, are only sold in salons. Bangstyle began as an online hair and culture experience at Bangstyle.com, but how does the new hair care brand stack up to already established brands? Jeremiah Williams, Executive Editor, was ready to put it to the test.

Bangstyle sent me three products that would be recommended for a guy's short hair style: 1) Thickening Fibre Gel, 2) Medium Hold Paste, and 3) Firm Matte Clay.

To be completely honest in 6th grade I had a bucket of goo that I would used in my hair. It made my hair feel like a solid piece of plastic that wouldn't move for days. I have gone through many hairstyles, even doing a rat tail twice, and have become well versed on the hair product I like and would recommend. Checking out a new product like Bangstyle made me a little nervous. What if it made my already reseeding hairline worse? I think about these things.

My favorite of the products that I was sent was the Firm Matte Clay. It's a dry pliable clay that gives decent hold and definition to your hair. The clay made it possible to give good shape to my hair style. I have short-medium hair length and normally do a messy comb over or a slept in look. The clay was able to achieve both. For a sleeker look put the product in your hair wet.

For a cool Summer beach look, put this product in your hair after shower. Towel dry your hair and leave it alone. Throw on a crisp T, good pair of denim, and a bold colored belt and you are ready for the day.

Next the Thickening Fibre Gel. I was already hooked because not gonna lie my hair is not as thick as it once was. The gel is not like the old school LA Looks  brand gel. It doesn't smell girly or anything either if that is one of your worries. Once you get it into your hair, and as it dries, it give your hair a light controlled slept in look. It didn't give me a heavy hold, but gave some body to my hair. Bonus!

A styling tip. Put this product in your hear wet. Bust out your comb and embrace you inner Don Drapper. I also found that this product was a good one to put in your hair first and then use something with a stronger hold to add some definition.

The last product from Bangstyle was the Medium Hold Paste. A paste is really good for super short hair. For anything longer than a military cut I would probably stay away. I did find that for random little pieces of hair that was not acting right, I could use the paste to keep a better hold.

The hold is good. If you have short hair and want to give it some texture or push it over in one direction this a good product. I tried to use it all over my hair and it didn't apply well. Not the end of the world because a lot of pastes are the same way for longer hair. The product did do what it was supposed to, I was just testing it. It doesn't add shine to hair, but gives definition
