Social Club 19 is constantly keeping our eye out for brands to check out. Warren Peace, a New York lifestyle brand, contacted us about checking out the brand. To be honest we get a lot of info on streetwear brands and they seem to all blend together. Warren Peace asked if they could send us some samples and we selected two of our favorite pieces from current collection. Social Club 19 kicked off Monday by checking out our new delivery.
Two pieces really popped out as our favorite: A heather grey graphic print sweatshirt and a graphic tee with "Fame" printed on front. Take note emerging brands, first impression can be formed in the little things. Warren Peace product was delivered in well branded black box with the signature tangerine accent color. Wrapped inside the box was the product I requested wrapped in black paper with wax seal. The quality of shirt and sweatshirt are good as well. These two picks would be categorized as "good pieces to have in closet".
Executive Editor, Jeremiah Williams, had an opportunity to talk to Armand Brito about Warren Peace.
WARREN PEACE launched in 2010. What made you decide to launch your lifestyle brand?
In 2009, I got laid off due to major cutbacks, and thrown into a time when no one was hiring. I took it as a sign from God to take advantage of this down time and finally do something for myself. I have an appetite to constantly create - I'm an artist by nature, so I naturally am drawn toward anything that feeds that appetite. In 2010, Warren Peace was born from a moment of me finally realizing that I'm from a generation of kids that choose love over a desk. What made you choose to name your brand WARREN PEACE?
I wanted to personify teh brand to represent a person which is the product of the spirit of New York City. So I named the brand WARREN PEACE, which plays on the words, "War and Peace", a balance of two extremes to make one product: Street and Luxury. True story, after I was set with the brand name, I had a conversation with my girlfriend about the brand. She pointed out that my first name, Armand, is "man of the army or war" and my middle name Lapaix, when translated to French, means "of peace".A brand that is based out of a city with so much inspiration, what inspired the designs of two of our favorite pieces: The Empire City Crest Sweatshirt and the Fame tee?
The Empire City Crest is the classic logo of Warren Peace. It features a blind folded protector-like woman restraining two roaring lions. The graphic as a whole embodies the idea of balancing power and grace. "Empire City Original" is the tag line that often is seen on many of the designs. It's an ode to the city that made me, and I sear it proudly. FOr each person that wears it, it should do the same. The sweatshirt is designed as a members only type piece. That's the type of feeling I was trying to convey when you wear it. I'm a member of an elusive club, and this is my uniform.
The Fame tee draws the idea of "what signifies success in achieving fame". At a certain point it's getting fans, then maybe getting an exotic car. In this case it's smashing of of the most sought after celebrities out there. The tee shows everyone wanting to get in on the action including some of your favorite fictional characters.
