You want another glass or you don't. That is often the test of if you will buy or drink a certain brand of wine. Wine can be intimidating if you let it, but it is also a very interesting topic to explore. First lets be clear that in no way am I a "wine expert."
Deutsch Family Wine and Spirtis sent me a promotional warming package for winter which included a bottle of [Yellow Tail] Big Bold Red wine. That sure is one way to stay warm with the never ending Winter. I put it on Instagram:
But how was the wine right? I had a bad experience with [Yellow Tail] when I was 20 and that has been my memory of the brand for a while. I unscrewed the bottle and poured me a glass one night, while working on the Social Club 19 Spring 14 Trend Guide.
The wine had a solid full flavor. It probably would have been much better given time to breathe and with a grilled steak. I had cheese and grapes with mine. The wine had a bold "earthy" taste with subtle fruit flavors. It is not a sweat wine, and best served with a delicious cheese or meat. If you let the wine sit in your mouth a bit, you get flavors of rich fruit mixed with a tone of oak.
Gentleman this wine would be a nice one to have on hand if having a cookout and someone wants a glass of wine with dinner. Wine doesn't have to be expensive to be a great bottle, although there are some higher priced bottles that taste amazing. The [Yellow Tail] Big Bold Red would be a wine that I would buy, it is worth trying out.
